CARN: The core archaeological record index
Cymraeg

How to use CARN

The CARN index can be queried in three different ways:

Simple Search

If you type your query into the 'search for' box, all the index-level data will be searched and the closest matches will be returned.

Search by location

If you click on the searchable map of Wales, you will open a map showing all the unitary authorities in Wales. You can then click on the area you want and data within 10 kilometres of the location will be selected. Alternatively you can type a national grid reference directly into the .search by grid reference. and specify the distance you require.

Advanced Search

This will open a search page showing all the indexing fields. If you type a value into the fields, the database will only search that field.

Please note that CARN will return a maximum of 100 records. If you cannot find the record you are searching for, try refining your search in the Advanced Search.
